Parisians are crazy over the Dukan diet, which promises weight loss without counting calories. Dr. Pierre Dukan’s ideas are similar to those of Dr. Robert Atkins from a generation ago. Both diets advocate eating more protein, but Dukan adds oat bran for fiber and lots of water. Eventually, a little alcohol and even desserts are allowed on the diet. People on the Dukan diet also have to exercise every day. Royal-to-be Kate Middleton’s mother is a big fan of the Dukan diet. As a result, it is gaining popularity in Britain too. But not all nutritionists are thrilled with this trend. They say that cutting out carbs could lead to an unbalanced diet.
